The Story of Paddy O`Brien
There`s something about the way PADDY Irish Whiskey was supposedly so named that you can`t help but feel it could only happen in Ireland.

In the 1920`s in the south-west region of Ireland, Munster, Cork Distilleries Company had a sales-rep. of some repute, PADDY O`BRIEN.

Paddy would breeze into town on his bicycle and as he did, men would scamper into the local pub to be there to greet him. It was a well known fact that if you were in close proximity as he ordered his glass of Whiskey and pint of Guinnes, this most generous of characters would stand you a round.

It was his way of making sure everyone got a taste for the Whiskey and therefore putting pressure on the publicans to always have some in stock.

If they were running low, or haven forbid, had actually run out, they would contact the distillery and order another case of "Paddys Whiskey" which was a great deal easier to say than the proper name: Cork Distilleries Companys Old Irish Whiskey.

It didn`t take long for Cork Distilleries to realise that they were on to a winner here and soon, "Paddy O`Brien`s" appeared at the foot of the label to show that it was indeed the real thing. By degrees, the label altered until they eventually went the whole hog and simply called the Whiskey "PADDY" Irish Whiskey.
